Washington D.C. — Yesterday, U.S. Senator Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and Senator Alex Padilla (D-Calif.) met with representatives from the League of California Cities for a wide-ranging discussion on issues including safeguarding critical funding in federal spending, advocating for local priorities, securing FEMA reimbursements, and disaster aid for communities across the state.

“I’m honored to welcome leaders from across California to Washington. I look forward to partnering with the League of California Cities to bring down costs and secure critical funding to protect our families, our kids, and our communities and give them the resources they need to succeed,” said Senator Schiff.

“This week, city officials from every corner of California came to Washington asking the same thing: how can we work together to improve life for Californians? But so far, on everything from government funding to community projects to disaster assistance, the Trump Administration has met them with chaos — not collaboration,” said Senator Padilla. “Local leaders are right to be concerned that the local projects and federal funding they’ve spent years advocating for are on President Trump and Elon Musk’s chopping block. We owe it to them to continue fighting each and every day for the projects and funding Californians depend on. I remain committed to using every legislative tool available to ensure we protect and advance California’s priorities.”

Attendees included representatives from Anaheim, Beverly Hills, Carlsbad, Concord, El Cerrito, Fowler, Fremont, Goleta, La Brea, La Cañada Flintridge, Lomita, Lynwood, Mountain View, Oakland, Palmdale, Pinole, Rancho Cucamonga, San Bernardino, San Leandro, Santa Ana, Santa Clarita, Santa Monica, Seaside, Stanton, Sunnyvale, Thousand Oaks, Tracy, Union City, and Walnut Creek.
