NEWS: Schiff Secures $4.5 Million in Grant Funding for Affordable Housing Improvements in Los Angeles

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Adam Schiff (D-Calif) announced $4.5 million in federal grants for the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) which will support affordable housing improvements and community sustainability initiatives.

This funding was allocated through the Congressionally Directed Economic Development Initiative (EDI) under the Community Project Funding (CPF) program. The funding was passed under the bicameral, bipartisan fiscal year 2023 appropriations bill.

“This critical funding will ensure that dozens of families can live safer and healthier lives in the places they call home,” said Senator Schiff. “I’m grateful to have worked with HACLA to secure these grants, and I’m looking forward to seeing these improvements implemented in the very near future.”

“These seven funded projects exemplify HACLA’s commitment to building thriving communities,” said Lourdes Castro Ramirez, HACLA President and CEO. “From energy-efficient upgrades to revitalized sports fields including much-needed housing and green spaces, these investments will improve the quality of life, reduce the effects of heat, and bring residents together. We appreciate every member of Congress for their support and thank HUD for working with our HACLA team to bring these transformative projects to life.”

Joining Schiff in advocating for these grants were Representative Maxine Waters (CA-43), Representative Jimmy Gomez (CA-34), Representative Nanette Barragán (CA-44), and Representative Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37).
