Shasta County, CA — Yesterday, U.S. Senator Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and U.S. Representative Doug LaMalfa (R-Calif.-01) toured the Shasta Dam, the eighth largest dam in the United States and the fourth largest in California.
During the tour, they heard directly from leaders from the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation and the Central Valley Project on the role the dam plays in agriculture, water supply, and drinking water for parts of the Central Valley and valleys south of the San Francisco Bay Area. The Shasta Dam stores water for agricultural irrigation in Southern California, provides flood protection, and generates hydroelectricity.
